Dear Essex County Resident:

As the Essex County Clerk, I am pleased to provide this handy guide of County and Municipal services.

You may not be aware that the County Clerk provides many services that residents and businesses in Essex County use every day. We register small business trade names; process U.S. passport applications, process and issue County Identification cards and notary public applications.

The County Clerk is responsible for designing the election ballot and printing all needed election materials including: sample ballots, provisional ballots, emergency ballots and vote by mail ballots. We process vote by mail applications and send vote by mail ballots to qualified voters. We also certify the election results.
